Pune : Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) Nagpur, in collaboration with pManifold evACAD, has launched a cutting-edge MTech Program in Electric Vehicle Technology. Aligned with India’s National Education Policy and the nation’s drive towards automotive electrification, the program targets both working professionals and regular students.

As India targets over 30% electric vehicle adoption by 2030, a surge in demand for skilled EV professionals is imminent. This program addresses this demand by fostering a new generation of engineers well-versed in EV technology, poised to lead the e-Mobility revolution.

Aligned with India’s National Education Policy and the nation’s drive towards automotive electrification, the program targets both working professionals and regular students.Eligibility & Application:

Reflecting on this transformative alliance, Dr. Pramod Padole, Director of VNIT, said, “Electric Mobility is penetrating phenomenally in India since the last couple of years and will continue to grow further. Hence, education related to the eMobility sector is extremely important which will help in facing new challenges of the automotive industry. As per Automotive Mission Plan (AMP 2016-26), VNIT has taken up the task to develop the human resources for Automotive Industry. Dedicated automotive research and education will provide perfect impetus for the next generation of automotive professionals which will fuel the growth of the automotive industry.”

Mr. Rahul Bagdia, Managing Director of pManifold, expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration, “This collaboration with VNIT exemplifies our commitment to advancing e-Mobility education and fostering a talent pool equipped to lead the e-Mobility revolution worldwide. Structured as a comprehensive two-year hybrid learning journey, the program delves deep into the intricacies of EV technology, empowering students to ignite innovation and catalyze industry advancements. The curriculum is enriched by VNIT’s distinguished faculty and accomplished industry experts within the EV domain. A key highlight is the provision for working professionals to concurrently pursue an esteemed M. Tech degree from VNIT Nagpur while engaging in immersive practical experiences. This dynamic approach is further enhanced by a balanced mix of online and offline modules, meticulously curated by both VNIT faculty and top-tier EV industry professionals.

Central to the program’s essence are the immersive hands-on labs and projects conducted at the VNIT EV Center of Excellence (CoE). This experiential learning is complemented by interactive virtual classes, enabling students to engage directly with leading EV experts and facilitating their seamless transition into the professional domain.

A distinguished feature of program graduates is their attainment of prestigious VNIT alumni status, opening doors to a wide array of career opportunities and industry networks. Furthermore, VNIT’s provision for credit transfers empowers students to tailor their academic trajectory in response to industry-relevant needs. Supported by dedicated career assistance, students are well-prepared to confidently seek roles with prominent EV manufacturers and suppliers, poised to make a profound impact within the thriving EV landscape.

This innovative MTech in EV Technology program arms graduates with a diverse skill set, encompassing:

  • A comprehensive grasp of EV distinctions from conventional ICE vehicles.
  • Profound insights into powertrain electrification.
  • Proficiency in systems engineering for EV design.
  • Expertise in model-based development for EV design & development.
  • Hands-on competence in disassembling and reassembling electric vehicles.
  • Mastery in Design, Verification, and Validation Planning (DVVP).
  • Proficiency in designing EV controllers and Battery Management Systems (BMS).
  • Advanced comprehension of Energy Storage Systems (ESS).
  • Mastery of smart mobility, encompassing ADAS levels & connected vehicles.
  • Leveraging diagnostics, IoT, and data analytics within the EV domain.
  • Beyond theoretical enrichment, students will also amass invaluable experience through project work, internships, and the guidance of pManifold’s evACAD, an alumni organization with a global reach, offering insights across 40 countries on EV policies, market research, and Go-to-market strategies.

Eligibility & Application:

The VNIT MTech program is open to graduates from diverse engineering disciplines. An initial bridge course ensures a seamless transition for those less acquainted with electrical, electronics, and automotive engineering fundamentals. Applications for the 2023-24 M.Tech. in EV Technology are currently being accepted. Aspiring candidates are encouraged to explore the program details at MTech in EV Technology to glean comprehensive insights and initiate the application process.

Located within the VNIT campus, the Centre for Advanced Mobility Technologies (CAMT) plays a pivotal role in e-Mobility development. As a collaborative hub uniting various internal departments and global Centers of Excellence, CAMT further elevates the capabilities of faculties, researchers, students, and industry stakeholders. With its focused commitment to e-Mobility, this trailblazing program solidifies VNIT’s stature as a beacon institution propelling progress and innovation within the burgeoning EV landscape.
