In Detail : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, February 19, laid the foundation stone for four renewable energy projects by Torrent Power worth an aggregate investment of INR 25,000 Crore during the mega Ground Breaking Ceremony (GBC) 4.0 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. These projects are expected to generate 8000 direct and indirect job opportunities.
The projects include setting up two pumped storage hydro projects having a combined capacity of 4,150 MW at Sonbhadra, a 150 MW solar power project in the Lalitpur district of Bundelkhand, and a pilot green hydrogen production facility at Gorakhpur (for which the gas distribution network is being built by Torrent Gas).
Torrent Power had signed the MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) for these projects with the Uttar Pradesh Government during the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit (UPGIS) 2023, held in February. The company, an INR 25,694 Crore integrated power utility of the Torrent Group, is one of the country’s largest companies with a presence across the entire power value chain — generation, transmission, and distribution.
