Dublin-based Phelan Green Energy, and its South African subsidiary Solar Capital, has unveiled a green hydrogen project in South Africa.
The developer aims to build a green ammonia power-to-x plant in the Western Cape.
Phelan Green Energy intends to invest $2.5bn in the project, which could generate 2500 jobs during its construction stage and sustain over 500 specialised permanent roles in subsequent years.
With planning anticipated for completion by Q3 2024, Phelan Green Energy is gearing up for a swift investment resolution, construction initiation and an early commencement of exports, which are planned for early 2026.
