Enel Green Power Chile, the first national operator of renewable projects, has started the construction of its second hybrid format clean energy generation park in the metropolitan area. Don Humberto will be located almost 40 kilometers from the center of Santiago.
As for the solar operation, Don Humberto will have a net installed capacity of 80 MW, while the capacity for its battery energy storage part will be 67 MW. Through the development and operation of this new facility, EGP Chile will be able to generate approximately 188 GWh of clean energy annually, which will be fed into the National Electric System (SEN), enabling it to power nearly 80,000 Chilean homes This in turn generates the emission of more than 148,000 tons of CO2 per year.
For the solar development, Don Humberto is considering the installation of a total of 131,000 bifacial monocrystalline panels of 615 watts, cutting-edge technology in the development of photovoltaic power plants that allow better capture of solar radiation and that, together with storage batteries, allows for better and broader generation profiles.
At the peak of its construction, it will employ around 600 people and aspires to contribute to local development by creating common value creation policies and also by hiring different types of local workers.
Enel Green Power Chile is a subsidiary of Enel Chile, the country’s renewable energy leader, with a diversified portfolio that includes wind (715 MW), solar (2,043 MW), hydro (92 MW) and geothermal (83 MW) . MW), which corresponds to an installed net capacity of 2,933 MW.
